My Seven-Year Game Plan

Seven years – many say you become essentially a new person after this time period. Reflecting on my journey, it seems like life has its own version of this cycle. Seven years ago in November 2016, I hung up my football boots after a grueling battle with Achilles inflammation that left me relying on steroid injections just to play the game I loved. But as one passion dimmed, another beckoned.

I dreamt of playing in the major league of a different field – Asset & Wealth Management. With nothing but a vision and determination, I moved to Zurich, a city known for its financial prowess. No job, no place to call home, and no contacts – just a heart full of hope and a mind set on success.

The discipline, teamwork, and perseverance football instilled in me became the foundation of my new career. From the pitch to the boardroom, these values have never left my side, guiding every decision, every leap of faith. It was football that taught me how to fall and get back up, to strategize with my team and push forward, no matter the odds.

Today, I stand in a city that symbolizes my growth, surrounded by opportunities I once only dreamed of. And if there’s one thing my journey has taught me, it’s that change is not just inevitable, it’s necessary. It’s the tough decisions, the leaps into the unknown, and the relentless pursuit of our goals that transform us.

To those at crossroads, remember, it’s never too late to change the game. Share your own stories of transformation and let’s inspire each other to chase the life we envision.
